Summer Jazz Weekenders with Harry Christelis

FREE, The Amphitheatre, Greenwich Peninsula, 1pm - 9pm

19–20 August 2017

This free community festival signals Summer on the Peninsula

Small, intimate and as chilled as they come, the Peninsula’s Summer Jazz weekender is a community festival for jazz purists and musical generalists searching for a new favourite band to fall in love with, along with outdoor fun for kids and adults alike. Discover innovative bands at the Peninsula’s amphitheatre, which will also feature Mi-Soul Radio DJs, live circus performances by Upswing, Ping Pong fun with Pongathon, Honeyscribe workshops using beeswax and flowers, and a play and arts space for families by MOTHERBRUNCH. There’s also lovingly-made street food or you can order picnic hampers in advance from Craft London.

 Line up:

19th August, 1pm-3pm

Tom Barford Quartet

Tom’s Quartet will play a range of emotive and imaginative compositions. Described as “fresh and unpredictable” Tom draws on influences such as Joe Lovano, The Golden Age of Steam and Brad Mehldau for a unique blend of melodies.

19th August, 3pm-5pm

James Allsopp Organ Trio

Saxophonist James Allsop is joined by Tim Giles and Ross Stanley for a two-hour set.

20th August, 1pm-3pm

Escape Hatch

Escape Hatch is a new collaboration between MOBO-award winning pianist Ivo Neame, Italian double bass virtuoso Andrea di Biase and drummer of the moment Dave Hamblett. The name of the group is a tribute to the power that music has to transport listeners and performers alike to the antipodes of the mind.

20th August, 3pm-5pm

Drawing on the broad spectrum of Jewish folk traditions, Bahla have found a space to create new music by bringing characteristics of Yiddish Art Songs, North African Rhythms and Liturgical Melodies into a melting pot.

20th August Until 9 pm

Mi-Soul Radio DJs will play the best in jazz, from classic to cutting edge, rare collector’s soul and uptempo.
