Journey into the depths of a whale, but not as you’d expect

French-born Margaux Carpentier brings to Greenwich Peninsula In the Heart of a Whale. A fantastical exhibition that journeys into the depths of a whale, but not as you’d expect.

Through her colourful illustrations and animations, you’ll see a surprising universe and meet human-animal hybrids that show the see-sawing of human reason and carnality.

“On one side they’re human and on the other side they’re weird monsters. Not necessarily scary monsters, but I wanted to describe the wild side of things,” she says.

Margaux Carpentier is part of the ever-evolving group of creatives, Puck Collective, and calls London her home. Her work is inspired by otherworldly folk tales and magical creatures.

In the Heart of a Whale is presented by The East London Comics and Arts Festival (ELCAF), and commissioned by NOW Gallery.

ELCAF 2016 is dedicated to showcasing and celebrating the most exciting talent in comics, illustration, small press publications and sequential art. To join the festival, pop by to the Round Chapel and School Rooms in Hackney between 10-12 June.
